Architectural Precast achieves Architectural Design Intent

The UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay in the Mission Bay district of San Francisco is now open and providing state of the art medical care for future generations. Willis Construction is extremely pleased to be part of a project that will have a huge impact in the lives of so many children and their families.

The majority of the skin of this massive project was clad with Architectural Precast. The durable and long lasting attributes of precast were the Architects first choice. The designer wanted to express spandrel and column cover elements without the normal horizontal joints that project the look of hundreds of individual pieces. After analyzing the structural integrity and the ability to transport the unique L-shaped panel, it was determined that we could achieve the designers desired look and at a lower cost than the previous design. Once again, the "Design Build" process provided the designer with a more exact match to the "design intent", and did so at a lower cost than the original budget. When designer and subcontractor collaborate during pre-construction design, it creates an opportunity to explore more innovative options, and in some cases, can save money. Contact Willis Construction to explore the many design and aesthetic options that Architectural Precast, GFRC, and Thinshell can provide.

Willis Construction has been providing Architectural Precast Concrete building panels and products for the construction industry since 1979.
